In my opinion CritterTrail is the best Cage brand available in the US. Widely available, fun designs, and decent prices make them a go to. The best models are: ( for syrian or 2 dwarfs) Outlook ( built in house, HUGE wheel, virtually escape proof). Crittertrail X (great for 1 -2 dwarfs) fun design very safe -wheel is troublesome-, Crittertrail Y & Z ( great for 1 dwarf) CritterTrail 3 ( best for multi dwarfs up to 4 comfortably) tall, expandable and easy viewing!
All CT cages are Expandable with a wide range of accessories, and usually need to be expanded for hammy comfort.
I think your thinking about SAM products they are made of plastic and, may look kool are VERY small for your hammy. Some CT cages are like that but most have a wire middle so they have alot of venalation.
I don't recommend crittertrail, not a single one of their cages is big enough on it's own for one syrian, even the CT 3. So you have to connect them using tiny tubes that are too small for syrians. In my veiw, they are too dangerous for syrians.
A lot of the CT cages aren't truly designed for Syrians, especially if the Syrian is larger than the average Syrian XD they can barely past gerbil standards.
Your best bet is get a 25+ gallon tank. Lots of toys!
I personally own the CT Dazzle, CT Outlook, and CT MiniOne. None of them are connected to eachother currently, though my hammie Spaz prefers to just stay in the Dazzle. Actually, any cage is good for him as long as it's not the evil wire cage he came with from the rinky dink pet shop. He absolutely HATES that cage, even though it's the same size as the MiniOne.
I think Super Pets designed the cages so that you HAVE to buy the expansions and increase the revenue in their pockets =P
xxxAmyxxx Sometimes we really dont have a huge oppion like you in the UK. You get awsome Imac Fantisy while we only get to choose Crittertrail and SAM products. Those are like the only cages that are avalible in Petco and Petsmart for me. I had two dwarves (seprate times) and they both lived in one small crittertrail one ! They werent together though.
Yes I learned that that is too small, but they managed to live through it. They are great, as long as you have a bigger cage connected to it. WOnderHammy know's what she's talking about. She's experianced hamster owner (who owns about 15 hamsters right now). She's not really talking about Syrians she's talking about dwarves.
xxxamyxx This is your only warning! I kept four very happy dwarves in a heavily expanded CT3 and they dont fight, they dont have issues, I clean it twice a week and let them out to excercise daily. I have owned up to 36 hamsters, and currently own 15. I am a breeder and entuhusiast. I dont have to defend myself to you, but I thought you should know your self righteous attitude is lacking in information and is totally biased and way too hamster heaveny.Your post is being deleted!
